  • Best hospital in Manhattan to give birth in? I delivered DC#1 at Lenox Hill, now I have the choice between Lenox Hill & Mt. Sinai. Thoughts?

    • NYP-Cornell, supposedly...although dd did get MRSA in the nursery there, so not sure why it's so highly rated!

    • I don't think there's much of a difference between the two if you're low risk (which I assume you are). Both very heavy on interventions, fwiw. Go where you like the doc better and/or where you're more likely to get a private room.

    • SLR gets raves on this board. I delivered both dbs at NYU and had a fine experience, though I'm sure it was nothing like the experience I would have had at a fancy suburban hospital.

    • best level of care (nicu) is nyp hands down. if you have a normal delivery, it doesn't matter so much

    • They are all fine. I'd choose most other hospitals over Lenox Hill. SLR, NYU or NY Presbyterian have better NICUs.

    • i liked lenox hill. loved the mat ward nurses, esp. the irish one, susan and patty! my friends who delivered at mt. sinai did not like it. i hear cornell is awesome, better than lenox hill, but alas i will still be at lenox hill next time
