    - seriously, if kid was choate material i wouldn't be asking, have 3 kids in top schools, not an option here -- very bright underachiever. great scores poor grades...

- true story: girl in tt high school left during junior year because she went to rehab. only school that would take her after was york. she reapplied for tt for the next year and they accepted her but she had to repeat junior year becuase york's teaching was so substandard

      - Yes, I am. And I think there are tons others. They just wont admit it. Unfortunately, some of their kids ARE at the top tiers, and will be facing tough times ahead (either because of low self esteem due to not keeping up with others in class, or due to the fact that they wont stand a chance of a TT college and have parents for whom that is a must). Your kid will do great. You seem to care. That's enough.

  - Oh I see. So I guess the time spent in rehab during Junior year, and time she spent doing what she was doing to get her into rehab in the first place didn't have anything to do with the gaps in her knowledge?

- dwight is a real school. lousy, but real. they have teams and trips and every year they have every class. i think there are years when york doesn't have kids and so they don't have an eight grade sort of stuff
