  • Anyone get their Hunter High School letter? Do you know anyone who got in? Everyone we know so far has been dinged even with incredible scores on the test.

    • Yikes. I know a teacher there who says that a lot of the students (not ALL so don't freak out!!!) are very odd. Asperger's-like.

      • Wow. I went to Hunter for high school. I'm totally normal. Not even brilliant, just bright. Of course, it was the '80's...

        • np - Dc is at Hunter HS currently and it's still like that. The majority of kids are totally normal - and very happy. Maybe the teacher that OR quotes thinks that studious Asians are Asperger's-like.

          • OR: I will ask her. But again, she said that a lot of the students are lie that, not all of them

    • My daughter was accepted, we received the letter on Friday. There was no mention of her score in the packet of materials we received. How do you know about "incredible scores on the test" when they were not included in the acceptance letter? Were the scores included only in the letters to the parents of students who were not accepted?

          • DD was accepted - definitely no mention of score on cover letter or anywhere else in the packet.

                • More than that "passed'' the math/verbal part of the test and got their essays read but don't know how many. Seemed like an ok percentage considering the school is geared to private and doesn't offer test prep unlike Wagner, etc.

            • They'd be fools to tell you what your kid's score was if your lucky child got in; the essay is the only part of the test where admissions has wiggle room to try to increase its actionable low minority enrollment stats.

              • Hunter grades both the multiple choice and essays "blind" no identification of the student other than an assigned number. They do not in any way attempt to influence "actionable minority enrollment stats. Strictly merit based admissions.
