i live in Brooklyn and trying to decide where to give birth to my first in the fall - it st luke's far better than NYU? it's further from where i live but i hear it may be the best- anyone have any insight?

- i'm also in brooklyn and had #1 at nyu. i really didn't like it, and decided to have #2 at home. i've heard good things about st.luke's. they have a birthing center. nyu does not. in any case, i strongly recommend hiring a doula. saved me from having a c-section w/ #1 and helped in other ways, too.

  - ITTTTA with all of this, except I would pick SLR over a homebirth. Otherwise all spot on. Also, OP, your first labor is extremely unlikely to be so short that you don't have ample time to get to SLR.

    - from or: Haya Brant (clearbirth.com) was our doula, and I totally love her. she's in carroll gardens, btw. she's also a mom, which i feel is a good thing, since she's been through childbirth too. she is very non-judgmental, has a great friendly energy and sense of humor. she has lots of experience as a doula both for hospitals and home-births. i totally recommend her.

- I'm in Brooklyn and will give birth at Lenox Hill b/c that's where my dr. delivers and I don't expect the extra 10-15 minutes by car will make a huge difference
