i'm very concerned about my 5yo dd. she has started sleeping so much. twice last week she came home from school and got into bed before supper. this morning she woke up fairly early and then at 10ish she got back into bed and went to sleep. weird, no?

    • Maybe (1) she's coming down with something; (2) something upsetting happened at school; or (3) lacking certain nutrients. Either way, I would call her teacher and ask and taker her to the doctor for quick checkup.

      • she's on antibiotics for an ear infection. but she's never had this as a side effect before. what's interesting to me is that her behavior has improved considerably. not sure if that's due to an absence of ear pain or more sleep.

        • well, antibiotics are known to cause fatigue. behavior improvement may be due to both lack of pain and sleep gain. a quick call to the pediatrician mid-week does not hurt.

    • Growth spurt. My dss periodically start hoovering food like there is no tomorrow and falling asleep whenever they can. After about two weeks they are 5 lbs heavier and 2 inches taller.

    • np my 5yo dd has been tired ;ate;y, asking for a nap & to put down before younger sibs. Was never like this last yr in PreK. Growth spurt makes sense to me although I was also thinking that maybe it is the ennui of K after all the fun of PreK.
