        • then you couldn't have taken the ERB - you have to take it after April 1 for next year. this year's score will not be relevant. for all you know your DS could get a 99x3 next year. it is very variable - score ddepends a lot on mood of your child that day, who the tester is, and your child's maturity (was he young when he took it this year?). just take it again and see what happens.

            • np Huh? It's only good for one admissions season--and you can't use a score from a test taken before April 1 '09 for the '09/'10 admissions season.

              • I thought he would do much better, does an 85 mean he is average at best?

                • Top 15% nationally, but I've heard 85 is the average on wppsi taken for erb purposes (very homogeneous group of dcs--parents well-educated and generally quite affluent).

                  • look if DC got 85 this year, he has to take it again next year. 85 is not great for NYC but it is fine - DC is smart. and you never know - with a little more maturity when DC retakes it to reapply for the 2010-2011 school year, DC may do very well. ifyou are hoping to get in somewhere for this year with 85 ERB, are you WL anywhere? if so, they are interested regardless of score and just work the WL. your post is not making any sense.

        • then he can take the erb again. maybe do some prep in the areas he didn't do as well. 85 still means he's smart, it's just that many schools see so many kids with higher scores, they'll reflexively choose them first. if he gets the same score or lower on the second try, then apply to bank street, which doesn't require erb, or the schools that don't care as much about scores. they're called "bottom tier" schools and you will read bad things about them here, but don't worry, they're all good. also apply to some top schools if you really think he's smart and might do really well on playdates and have an amazing school report.

    • Believe it or not, St. Bernard's will take a DS with ERB in the 80s if he has a very good visit. They don't pay much attention to the ERB and base decisions almost entirely on their own test. If you search below, you will find someone got in with an 89.
