      • I have a PR firm, though on bad days I've fantasized about not working if DH made more $$ I think I'm kidding myself. I love the financial independence and don't know what I would do with myself if I didn't work.

    • If dh could stop working too, I wouldn't work. Otherwise I need my job for my well being.

    • Education, administrator (nursery school). I wouldn't mind being a SAHM, but we need the money (DH is also a teacher).

    • doctor, earn 51% HHI so both of us have to work, but would anyway...despite all the horrors of paperwork, insurance, etc still get a lot out taking care of my patients

    • I'm an attorney. I make about 25-30% of HHI, which definitely makes a difference (private school might be impossible without it). We could move and cut our costs, but the real issue is that DH treats me like his assistant when I don't work and would feel that I'm a parasite. It would not be good for our marriage.

    • Doctor at academic institution (so make less than privaet MDs). Love job. Live on husband's salary easily with some savings (not tons - he's not wall street) so don't have to work, but salary does add to our savings considerably which is important.

      • Don't assume you are necessarily making less than a lot of private MDs as an academic. I'm in private practice, and my MD dh in academia makes a lot more than I do.

        • Well, yes, of course it totally depends on what field you're in. But generally speaking with research, committees, teaching responsibilities, lectures/talks, if you work the same hours (though doing different things), you're payed less in academia.

    • I'm a lawyer and make 100% of income right now (damn the economy!). Would love to work 3.5 days a week total, but that is not an option right now. Even if money was no object, I think I would continue working but would certainly ramp down.
