Does anyone know what PS 11 is like if you did not test your kids for the TAG program?

- up-and-coming. up until last year, people would have shot their own grandmas to get a variance to ps3. but the tide may be turning. it's still not one of the best schools in d2 by far, fund-raising is a problem and depending on who you talk to there are still some lingering tensions between the haves and the have nots, but the principal is great and most parents are committed. if i had a choice, i would probably go elsewhere, but if i didn't i wouldn't jump off a bridge. gl.

  - thanks. are the general population classes terrible if you have a bright kid? didn't test my kids and they won't let me test now.

    - not great, but the good news is that the g&t classes are undersubscribed and you may very well have a good shot at moving dcs from gen ed classes to g&t if they are in fact bright enough to be eligible.

        no, i doubt it. i think they'll have to prove themselves academically first. their teachers and the parent coordinator are your best bet. i'm surprised he wasn't helpful. i thought he was great. but maybe their hands are tied by the doe?

- We have the same issue except our DC is in K now and we missed the deadline to test her for 1st grade. Last year she qualified for PS 11 G&T but we chose to go private. Given the economic meltdown, it now seems like a bad decision. McGill was quite helpful, and I thought they had extended the deadline for kids going to K in fall of this year, but I don't think we're going to get anywhere with out situation. Cannot imagine DOE admitting a DC into G&T without taking OLSAT.

thanks. are the general population classes terrible if you have a bright kid? didn't test my kids and they won't let me test now.

what grades? if you have a pre-k dc you can still try to test on monday, no?

one is in pre-k now and one is in first now. are they testing for kids entering pre-k on monday?
