Mentioned to my dad that I was in the market for "nicer" wine glasses (anything would be a step-up from the mismatched BB&B glasses we have) and he said something to my grandmother who dug around in her closet and found like-new Lenox glasses which she offered to me. They're very nice -- but smaller than standard-size and the stems aren't quite what I like. I took them and I'm keeeping them, but this is what always happens with my family -- someone attempts to do something nice and it's never what the other person really wants. Not sure why I'm posting -- I'm grateful for the gift, yadda, yadda, yadda.
