    • DC really disliked it from the playdate. DH and I then were really turned off by parent interview with DOA. I love that there are so many choices in this city for all of though.

    • A great school for one of the pack. A disaster for the dc who marches to their own drummer.

      • We had the opposite impression - great for one who is unique and this was backed up by what they told us at our interview - also our first choice

        • interesting. at the child assessment, they clearly did not like my dc who is quirky and he was not being a brat. What I saw in all the classrooms (along with the many grad students there watching the kids like lab rats and taking notes) were kids engaged in a group dynamic and discouraged from veering outside that group.

          • I guess it is always hard from a single day to get an overall feel. We have a very quirky dc and our psd had specifically said Bank might be a good option (she thought alot of others were bad). Bank St seemed to agree as per our parent interview - but we will see what happens with admissions. Did you overall feel that progressives were a good fit? We were told progressive best for our quirky dc.

            • PSD said progressives were actually very regimented for dc in their own Borg-like way.

              • np: I could have written your post. I agree with you that Bank Street is for kids who aare very compliant and reliant on adults. Independent, more mature dun-loving kids would be miserable there...and diagnosed with a few disorders along the way.

      • ITTTA. They don't handle kids who are individuals very well.

    • GL! FWIW, that is the best entry point - in that they have more spots than later on.

    • Two people I respect greatly (smart, low-ley) sent or send their DCs to Bank St and can't say enough good things about the school. One friend's children went from Bank Street to Dalton and Trinity (one each) for highschool, btw.
