    • Yes!! A ton of questions. What is the school really like? We go to a Jewish nursery school and love Jewish learning but are not a religious family. Are there many people like us or is it really more of a religious place? I have a son - will he be in an environment where the boys are wearing a kippah and he is not. How are the academics (non-religious)? Is it a good school?

      • Wonderful, caring and supportibe atmosphere. Very nice families with different degress of observance, ranging from secular to religious. Hebrew and Judaic studies are superb. Secular studies may suffer a bit over the long run because there is only so much one can do in a day. But the Hebrew and Judaic stidies are great intellectual challenges in their own right.

        • How are the teachers for the secular topics? How much homework? What percent of the families would you say are secular versus religious?

          • Secular teachers are very good and many are truly superb. No issues there at all. The high school is very new so collge admission record is not quite there yet. BUT, they do extremely well in placing into top 9th grade/high schools.

      • I am the OP - not sure who the other HEschel mom is but, hello! Our son is in the nursery there and absolutely loves it. A lot of the kids came out of Chabad and Beit Rabban. Sometimes I feel it is a bit religious but the kids for the most part seem pretty conservative or conservadox. Families are very lovely, down to earth, pleasant - no craziness or flashiness, in my experience.

    • Hope you're still there. I would love to consider a jewish school for my DS. Do you think security is an issue? I hate that I even think about it, but as you probably know, anti=semitism is on the rise! SO awful. But please share your thought on this. Thanks

      • Would not deter me at all, and the school has good security.

        • We are the early childhood school (W. 89) and there are security guards at the front entrance. I feel safe there. The admin asks you to introduce yourself to the security so they know you.

    • Now that they have a high school, will they still really help with high school exmissions?
