How will knowing what people spent and what brand they purchased help you decide if you need a new handbag?
[ Reply | Options ]I am trying to decide if it is worth the $$ to get a designer bag. For everyday use. Just wondering what others think. That's all.
[ Reply | Options ]Okay then, how is knowing what others spent and what brand they got going to help you decide if it's worth the money to get a designer bag? That makes no sense? Do you have the money? Were you one of those girls that just copied what everyone else wore in high school?

I don't want to get a knockoff. Just something affordable, utilitarian but cute, simple.
[ Reply | Options ]Seriously... I've found very good bags (Coach, various Italian-made quality bags) at TJMaxx. You have to pick through, but there's gold in them thar racks.

J. Crew and Banana have nice, mid-range bags. You might want to look at vintage bags too if you like that kind of thing,or look on eBay for recent vintage designer bags that you might not otherwise want to spend the $$$ for. Or yes--TJ Maxx. Just go for obvious quality--good leather and fittings, etc. if you want it to age well.

$500 Coach because I love their quality. Just be honest with how you use the handbag. I personally don't anything that's too heavy, e.g. Their Legacy line is very popular, but it's way too heavy for everyday use. Ditto for any bag that has a lot of hardware. If I'm carrying kid stuff (water, snacks, etc.) I won't use the Coach bag and will opt instead for a simple tote. If you have time to shop and want to save money, you can find good deals at T.J. Maxx and Century 21 but it takes patience.

i hate it when people are preachy, but i must say please don't buy knock offs. i read an article not too long ago that went into detail on how knock offs are breaking all kinds of child labor laws in china. children are forced, actually strapped down, to make a fake bags. please don't buy them

$1500 Fendi (love it), $400 Searle (love it), $10.99 Target (loved it until I got red ink that didn't come out)
[ Reply | Options ]About $700, navy leather Hogan bag at the Hogan outlet just outside of Florence, Italy in September. Impulse purchase and not completely sure I made the right choice but feel guilty buying something else so soon after spending the $. Marc by Marc Jacobs makes nice mid-range leather bags ($400-600).
