  • nb is 6 wks old- just started sleeping from 11 pm to 6 am- is this too long to go w/out eating? he nurses every 2-3 hrs during the day still. i wake up every 2 hrs to check on him at night and he seems fine...

    • Can you call your ped and ask? How is his weight? I can't imagine you should wake up but perhaps at this age he does need to be roused for a middle of the night feed? (PS Congrats on the great sleeper!!!)

    • Just did a breastfeeding class. It says that by week 6 if gaining weight and all is well then no need to wake to feed. They will wake themselves. congrats on getting some zzzs.

      • it all just turned around! for first 4 wks nb would ONLY sleep if someone was holding him...we tried everything and then gave in and got the snuggle nest even though i wasn't really into the idea of cosleeping. for two nights he slept from 9ish until 1 am, and then suddenly starting sleeping all the way until 6ish...might stir briefly but will fall asleep again if given pacifier. he's just over 10 lbs at this point...asked pediatrician, she said she might wake him up after 6 hrs....not sure i like her opinion, b/c i'm starting to remember what it feels like to sleep again, and i really like it!
