      • I posted below. We didn't like Trinity at ALL. Very low energy. DCs are like robots. When I tour Anderson, I had very good vibes. DCs seemed happy and engaged. I would pick Anderson!

    • In this uncertain economy? Anderson all the way...although there's no guarantee that your #2 would get in, but the current sib policy helps a bit in that arena.

    • That's my HHI (give or take) and I would do Anderson and save the $ for college, economic downturns, etc. I actually prefer the idea of Anderson in some ways, and you are fine for middle school.

    • If you get in I'd do Anderson for elementary and then, if the kid's done well, apply to Trinity or other tts for middle and/or hs. You save a lot of money.

    • We would also do anderson with that HHI. I think it would be hard to pass on trinity, but anderson will do a good job with a smart kid, you will save $$$ and you can decide later if private makes sense.

    • My dc chose Trinity over Stuy. He is very happy at Trinity, and from all I have seen, we regret he did not apply to Trinity sooner. Have experience with several privates (more than one dc in family) and Trinity is wonderful in so many ways. The middle school looks excellent. My child's classmates who have attended since K say it has been a wonderful experience, and based on what I have seen, I believe them.

        • my dc was in private, but I happen to know another classmate came from A, so I suppose either strategy is reasonable

      • most kids would say they liked the school they had been at since K, and were planning on continuing to attend. I don't think that is specific to trinity. they come to feel affiliated with the school. it has been their home for many years, they have grown up there with each other. you probably came from a lesser school, and have some regret about not being there sooner because you envy wat the others seem to have...or at least what you perceive them having.

        • I regret it bc my ds seems happier and the program suits him better. By HS you know very well what your dc's strengths are, and it makes it easier to choose a school. My dc is actually doing better in school now, even with more challenging work. He tries harder and has many more opportunities. We were not at A though, so cannot directly comment on that choice. OTOH, I would think if there were not so great things about T lower school, the students who had been through it would be less positive than they are. I can tell you students are not so positive about the school my dc attended before HS. I do think the T students show more enthusiasm for their school, and that does mean something.

    • With Trinity you have good odds of #2 attending, they have great sibling policy. Anderson not so much, and now that they are moving they are losing PS9 as the sibling back-up too.

      • Why would losing PS9 a negative factor for Anderson? PS9 isn't all that...

        • Because if your younger kid didn't qualify for Anderson, they could still go to 9 and your kids would be in the same building. Good for logistics.

    • Anderson- Trinity is going to run you about $100K (with afterschool and small donation)which after tax is close to 1/3 of your annual income. Anderson is a great school my dc's have been there a few years now and have had wonderful teachers and love their school, friends, etc, the academics are a perfect pace. Although we will go private for HS and Trinity is at the top of the list.
