    • Depends on the quality of the daycare provided and how tough the job is....and, in my experience, dc's experience at daycare has been wonderful.

      • ITA. If the quality of the day care is good, then you get the best of both worlds. The biggest downside for me is that db gets sick A LOT, and therefore my husband and I are having to take time off of work to stay home with him.

      • We have a really great daycare but my concern is more selfish, will I be able to have everything organized, drop off, pick up. WIll i be permanently exhausted? (dh won't be around much b/c of work)

        • I cannot lie: the days are exhausting and somewhat hectic, but you get used to it and become more efficient, when necessary, and more tolerant of little things being less than perfect.

        • of course it will be more work. you'll have to get yourself ready in the morning, dc ready, pack meals (if not provided), and rush to drop off / pick up and still maintain your work hours. you'll also need some sort of flexibility form when dc gets sick which will happen a lot at first. we've gotten used to the routine and we have 2 dcs (one in school and one in daycare). it helps if you and dh can do a tag team. one person does drop-offs and the other picks up.

    • it is hard at first, but it does get easier. and my ds loves it! But also you must find the right daycare. My ds has been at 3, and one of them was not so good, but the other 2 great. And I know he is in good hands every day.

    • ITA. Not all daycares are the same. Do your research, talk to parents and visit. For us, it went very smoothly (had nanny for 8mos before sending to daycare). DS loved the interaction with other kids and I liked having multiple caregivers and the variety of activities even at that age.
