  • This is not a veiled brag, just want some insight. My 19mo knows all of her colors, can count to 7 (we put several different objects in front of her and she'll count them) can say her ABC's and will speak basic 4 to 5 word sentences. My mother thinks this is "advanced" behavior, I think it's a appropriate, maybe a little advanced but not by much. Thoughts?

    • The most important thing you can do with your child is engage her in conversation and observations about the world--not run her through a bunch of tricks like a little dog.

      • OP: We are talking to her all the time, she is just always pointing out colors when we're reading, walking, at the park etc -- she loves counting and she likes to sing her ABC's.

    • It's advanced, not unheard of, but certainly more than the average 19 month old is doing.
