  • does anyone know what the unemployment benefits are in NYC? I looked online but I'm not getting a sense of how much or how long, although it looks like 26 weeks... can anyone confirm?

    • It's based on the salary you received (counting back a number of quarters)--someone posted that their husband would get about 1500/mo, (and I'm guessing their husband would receive maximum benefits). It's taxed also. The 26 week limit is sometimes extended federally during times of high unemployment.

    • I believe the maximum is $415/week.

      • I think nys raised it to 515, from 405. Yes it is taxed either when you get it if you choose to have taxes witheld or when you file return, you collect 26 weeks over a 52 week period (you could work a couple weeks here and there and your claim stretches out) - currently the feds have an extention to benefits - but that will depend on when and if you file.

    • That's right--the maximum is $415/week and the time limit is currently extended to 39 weeks in any 52-week period.
