    • I think it was less about picking SS than about liking the SS schools better. We didn't want a progressive school (so no Dalton or Ethical), and we did want a rigorous and well-organized curriculum, and we didn't like (or have a shot at) Trinity, and we thought HM was too far and didn't like what we perceived about the parent body. Which basically left B, C, S, and NBS. Of those we liked S, C, and NBS the most, in that order.

    • The only co-ed school where we thought the curriculum matched our dcs needs was Trinity and we had no shot. We didn't like all the ss schools (especially NBS and Chapin where we thought the program was too ridgid) but we really liked Brearley, Spence and Marymount in how they seemed to bring out the girls, had a great focus on academics and tolerated enthusiasm. We did tour some hill schools but could not get past the distance.

    • PIcked the school because of rep. for academic rigor and because we knew some families there. SS was not first consideration, although it turned out to be a good thing -- dd came in later grade (from public) and was relieved to be away from issues of discipline and social pairing off in school.
