  • I really can't take this economy stuff anymore. I really can't see or have yet to hear that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Are we going to be living a third world nation in 5 years? I went to Target yesterday and i felt so guilty about buying anything what wasn't on my "list" and absolutely needed. Target for crying out loud...I used to shop for sport now I am stressed about buying $10 slippers I don't really need. Will the world ever be the same again.

    • don't be ridiculous. we won't be living a third world nation. have you been outside the US? it's quite a different picture. it's a recession and we'll be over it eventually.

    • I feel the same way, OP. I feel like crawling out of my skin everytime I listen to the news. I'm definitely concerned about what we're headed for.

      • you are actually all wrong. the main reason for this mess is the fact that some people in our govt refused to regulate freddie and fannie who were issuing subprime loans to anyone with a pulse. they were all getting campaign contributions form them and the ACORN lobbyists were very active on that front too - trying to get EVERYONE to buy a home regardless of their credit history. well, this is where it got us.

        • Did the gov't force people to take out these loans?! The greedy borrower who must "keep up with the Jones's" are also to blame.

          • if you are poor person living in the ghetto and the bank offers you a free loan, you take it. it's fannie and freddie's fault for allowing these loans to be given out. the only reason they did that, is because they are backed by our (taxpayers) money and didn't care.

            • these loans were made to normal middle class people in most cases but they took out adjustable rate mortgages that were too big to finance mcmansions or took out equity to buy cars or finance renovations.... this problem is not caused by loans to people in ghettos

          • You realy live in a bubble. It must make you feel warm and fuzzy that these "greedy" people wanting to own a home and invest in their future are now out on the street and all of the wall street f*cks are getting bailed out.

        • they are exactly what i meant by assholes on the real estate front. and yes, greedy lobbyists are assholes too. it makes me so mad that WE have to suffer through this, while those who got rich on all of this probably still are. MAN this makes me mad.

        • you can always look up who was getting the money in congress/house and who was benefiting - the democrats have always been the ones in bed with fannie and freddie and blocked all bills to regulate them (to set limits on the type of loans they issue).

          • always? Like during the first six years of the Bush Admin when the Republicans controlled the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives? C'mon, you can think more critically than that.

        • the problem is that the banks issued loans they shouldn't have because they knew that Fraddie & Fannie would buy them out. Freddie & Fannie do not issue the loans directly.

        • This sounds like such a RNC talking point. Let's blame the Dems and Freddie and Fannie MACs while also targeting Barney Frank and ACORN. There are not enough Black people in this country to take out bad loans to bring the banking system to its knees. Don't drink the kool-aid.

    • It makes me so angry that I can't afford a home in the town where I work full time. That the credit agencies are BS and allowed to do whatever they want, even if it means you pay for things twice, or for charges you never incurred. I went to the gap yesterday to look for jeans, and they were $70! At the gap! For f***s sake I can get calvin klein for this price! I don't feel guilty for anything, our gov't is s***. Meanwhile we are paying for illegals ans giving them OUR jobs. What a great country.
