  • Can anyone tell me what the parents are like at City & Country? interested in this school and wondering if parents are mostly down to earth, friendly, etc. or is it known to be a snootier parent body?

    • I'm a C&C mom. I love it here and the majority of the families are very nice and down to earth. You will always come across those who have a stick up their ass or the need to prove something to others BUT for the most part, it's really laid back (which I love) and accepting as a community (I'm hispanic). The diverse families feel very comfortable there. I wanted a place where labels weren't important for my kids. This place is just like that. Hope this helps

        • thanks, I really appreciate it. We would be a FA family so I am just worried about my dc feeling inferior or "poor" next to all the families with full time help and big beautiful apartments.

          • the FA familes aren't stigmatized. The school has many families (black, white, hispanic, ect) on FA. That's all private info and they don't know who is on or not. In fact the families I know that are very well off, buy their kids clothing at the same stores as we do (like Old Navy, Gap or Childrens place). I love that the moms come as is for pick up and it's not a fashion show

              • I'm glad I could help. We are very happy there. It's a small tight community. I love that the staff knew my dc name within day 2-3 of school (I mean staff other than the teachers). They really make you feel welcome there. We will send all of our kids there if god's willing

                • ^^^go to the open house if you make the lottery and speak to parents, speak to the kids (graduating class) and speak to the teachers. It will be a mad house but just don't visit the class that you are applying for..visit K, 1st, 2nd, ect. Every yr I volunteer and am in the classrooms so parents could come and ask Q's. Many ppl don't visit the older classes because they figure this isn't what we are applying for but you do get an insight from parents

    • C & C Mom, I used to be a C & C mom myself and I miss it so much. It is all the things you say it is. Here's my question for you. After pulling my child out of the school to attend a public school, I now want to have my younger daughter apply to the II's. Any chance we could get in, or no way in hell.

      • why did you pull your child out to go to public? I know one thing they are really, really trying to stop is admitting people who are only planning to use it as a preschool.

          • and who really believe in progressive education--not just who think progressive=warm & fuzzy for the younger grades but then they want somewhere academic. They want families who are believers. (We are.)

    • former C&C teacher here.. I agree with the C&C posts. It is a wonderful place. From an admissions perspective they really are looking for "believers" as the OR said. They want families who believe in the whole program, not just nursery.
