I know there are a number of factors involved, but what do you pay to keep a car in the city? What do you pay for parking plus insurance for something that isn't a luxury car? It's taking an hour to rent a car every week and it's a pain to fill it up with gas. We are on the UES.
3 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]BIL uses zipcar and has had very good experiences with it. parking is going to run you upwards of $300/month in most of manhattan - although if you go farther up towards east harlem you might be able to get a deal. insurance costs us $1000/year on a non-luxury sedan. then of course there is the cost of buying the car itself. my friends figured that they could rent a car up to the equivalent of 2 weekends every single month and have it be cheaper than owning.
