  • S.O.S. I have reached the end of my rope. I am hardly a neat freak but every single day I am cleaning up floorfuls of cereal, corn kernels and crusts. Every book comes out of every bookcase, every video is unstacked and every single toy in my house is strewn around like a tornado hit. How do you keep up with the mess? If I have even one night that I am too tired to clean it all up the mess is out of control and can take weeks to restore. Please share your plans of how you keep your damn place relatively neat - not even clean or well-decorated.

    • well first of all it's called being a mom. i'm a wohm who comes home and cleans up every single night m-f. I run the vacuum almost every night and do load after load of laundry. i have a housekeeper who comes every monday so that i can feel like the house is clean to start off the week. on top of it all dh is a total and complete packrat. it's tough. i have found a level of satisfaction and just try to maintain that. certain things don't get done but i've found peace with it all. remember this is all temporary some day the kids will grow up and all this stuff will be replaced with new stuff. just embrace the madness and enjoy the time you have with your family.

    • How old are you kids? You could start teaching them that they must put back something before taking out something else.

      • 2 and 7, the 2 year old is the primary problem so I have a few more years before I can expect much help. Thanks for the idea though.
