How many of you are lawyers? Do you like it or hate it? Do you still practice? If not, what do you do instead and why did you quit?

I love it... I am a gov't attorney who works for one of the NY state courts. It's challenging and interesting work and I get paid less than I would at a big firm, but I have no stress, great hours/ benefits and tons of vacation. I make close to 6 figures & I've got about 9 yrs. experience as an atty.
[ Reply | Options ]I started on partner track kind of, was on it for 7 years, then had the baby, went part time, then quit and stopped working for a year. After a year, started temp/contract position in midsize firm (finance stuff) and have been there ever since, make about 140,000 on four 1/2 days 9 to 6 about, but have to provide my own health insurance and no benefits. I am bored out of my mind with corporate/finance law in general, has nothing to do with wanting to be at home more, even though I would like to be home more, but I need the money.

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
