  • Nicole Kidmen, Camilla Alves, Jessica Alba, How the hell do they do it? They are all thin again, a month later. I have been in great shape my whole life but at 39 weeks pregnant I know it will take a four or five months to get this thirty lbs off, I mean really, it takes me two months to take off the 10 lbs I gain from Thanksgiving to New Years!

    • if I had personal trainers, nannies and chefs, I'm sure I could have lost the weight that quickly too. It's part of their job

      • ITA. They aren't up all night taking care of the baby (despite what they say in interviews), or doing laundry, cleaning up spit up, etc. All they have to do is hold baby when it's brought to them, eat their 1200 calories a day of prepared foods, and exercise 3 hours a day.

    • nicole kidman is anorexic, so the 8lbs she gained make her look better. As for the other two, a chef, a personal trainer, nannies, and the free time to work ut 5 or 6 hours a day would get you back in shape right away too. it's not supposed to be a competition.

      • NP: Actually, it DOES seem like it's being made into a competition.

      • OP: I'm just saying, it doesn't seem possible to lose the weight that fast, even in complete starvation/excercise mode, besides don't you think they had C-sections as well and to even excercise that soon seems crazy. Yeah, I'm jealous, but I know my limits and how much time I can anticipate in the baby weightloss.

    • Yeah, but you lose the weight of the baby, the placenta, the extra fluid, etc. as soon as you give birth. bf'ing supposedly helps it come off; and I also think genetics plays a role. I lost all but the last 5-10 before my 6 week pp appt., that took another couple months. My body is *not* the same, but the weight came off! Have heart...

        • Well, he says exactly what is on his mind, and always has -there is no wondering what he really means...I talk incessantly no one knows what I'm saying, opposites attract I guess. Sometime he'll say in 10 words or less please! It cracks me up!

    • Probably won't take you very long at all. 30 lbs gain is low compared to most women these days. FWIW, I gained 35 lbs and at 8 weeks postpartum, I have 4 left to lose. Haven't dieted, just ebf-ing and eating totally normally.

    • Much of this is genetic. Like it or not there ARE those women who simply gain very little in pg and lose what they do gain immediately--and genetically, those women are likely to tend toward the thin anyway, which is part of the reason they are celebs in the first place. I'll also say I see a huge difference between Camilla Alves and Jessica Alba, who are young and lovely, and Nicole Kidman, who is a ghoul. She took real beauty and turned it into wretched wretched aged ghoulishness with too much plastic surgery and a serious eating disorder.

      • Celebs also eat little to nothing to begin with and probably don't pig out when they're pg. Adding 300 calories a day while pg probably got Nicole Kidman to about 1500 per day--much less than you or me, I'm guessing.

        • Well, I try (mostly in vain) to stay around 1500 a day now (not pg). But the sheer willpower one must have not to indulge one's cravings while pg is mind-boggling to me.

    • I was in great shape pre pg (spin classes almost every day), and gained 50 lbs (not even eating that much and still spinning). I lost it all by 10 mos pp (was in my clothes at 6 mos pp). every woman is different. good luck with the baby.

      • I was in OK shape pre-pregnancy, did not a whit of exercise during it, gained 45 pounds, and lost it all save 5 pounds 9 mos out. When I stopped nursing at 15 mos, I lost 10 more. I think your body does what it needs to do.

        • yes, I lost weight when I stopped bfing too. I agree--your body knows what to do. I have a healthy baby, so I can't complain a bit. (although next time, I am going to be a bit more on top of my weight I think to see if it makes a difference.)

    • all they have to do is work out and relax; they have nannies, chefs or have meal delivery service, etc. We should not be beating ourselves up because we can't accomplish the same as celebrities-we are raising our kids

    • You guys are kidding right? They all get tummy tucks (abdominoplasties) right after pregnancy (eg like 3 days later) in addition to all the eating right, working out excessively, etc... Its common practice in hollywood.

    • ladies its called a tummy tuck right after birth (like 3 days after), in addition to excessive diet and exercise. There is surgery involved in getting back that quickly - this is common in hollywood.

    • They have trainers, people to help, time to work out a lot etc. Don't worry 4-5 mos to take of 30 lbs is fine! GL
