  • Help! In the last 24 hours my one-month old has become totally cranky. When she's awake she's constantly fussing and crying, and it's almost impossible to rock her to sleep. Nothing helps but nursing, and even then she's fussing on the nipple, and drinking till she pukes. WTF?

    • The swaddle is your friend. Check out "The Happiest Baby on the Block" dvd or book. The technique (swaddling, soothing with a pacifier, jiggling lightly, hold baby on her side, and using a swing) really saved us when the newborn honeymoon was over.

      • ita. "colic" sets in around 2 weeks and peaks at 6 weeks. even using all the tricks in this book, our dd fussed most of the time she was awake, but it did help a lot!

    • you might want to talk to your pediatrician about gastrointestinal issues. my son was very fussy, even when nursing, and it turned out that he had GI issues. Once they put him on medication for that, he was a LOT better.
