  • 2nd pregnancy, had GDM diagnosis first pregnancy, but never had 1 abnormal BG reading when monitoring at home, baby born 6.2 lbs, Now second pregnancy, need to do the 3 hr glu test again....I am lean, exercise, and gained 13 lbs @ 28wks, anyone had a similar experience, I just don't get this test!!

    • It really has nothing to do with you body per se...What it comes down to is the way in which the placenta absorbs insulin. If the placenta isn't doing its job, then you develop GD! Just be careful of what you eat!

    • There is a higher chance that you will develop GD with a second pg when you had it the first time. It sometimes doesn't appear until late in the pg also. The test sucks, but at least you will know to be extra careful with your diet if it turns out that you are GD again. It sounds like you are doing fine, tho'.
