Met with a highly recommended cleaning person. No laundry, but everything else (whatever that means). She quoted me $200 after taxes. Assuming she works 5-6 hours (I don't think she'd be there for more than that), that's $35-$40 per hour take-home, AFTER taxes. Is that the going rate???

what do you think the per hour rate should be? i mean, how else could I quantify something like that? we live in a small 3-br.

np: professionals are insanely high. They quoted me 500 for the day for a full cleaning.
[ Reply | Options ]and they suck. Don't bohter with a service. Then send in a bunch of people, never the same ones, and while one is dusting, the other is mopping. The mopping might get done before the dusting and then there is dirt all over the floor again. BTW, I pay my cleaning lady about $20/hour.

my housekeeper is 180 for about 5-6 hours (two bedroom 1500 sq. foot apartment) but does all the laundry and cleans beautifully.
[ Reply | Options ]she said i have a lot of rooms (it's a small 3-br, 1500 sq. ft apt.) and a lot of clutter (which is true), but still!?!
[ Reply | Options ]She is on crack or thinks you are a sucker or something. Seriously, unless you are in a situation where you have a staff (ie) housekeeper, separate laundress, etc. etc. most people just have a housekeeper that does the laundry as well. I have never heard of anything like what this woman is saying. She is deluded.

That's insane. A cleaning person should make no more than 25 per hour, and that's if she's amazing.
[ Reply | Options ]we pay $80 for a small 2 BR, no laundry. She does a B+ job and that's enough for us. She takes about 4 hours each time so $20/hour.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
