  • ANyone have leg cramps (period like) in the weeks before labor? 37 weeks here and feeling them intermittently. Don't remember from other pregnancies

    • period like, leg cramps? i don't follow. i had really bad lower back pain that i found out later was pre-term labor. my water broke at 35 wks.

      • ugh! yes. Charlie horse pain all the time from week 32-37. I did a ton of calf stretches, which helped. Also, a banana a day seems to help. The potassium I guess is why.

      • op: yes, cramps in my upper legs. I always get those when my period is coming (but obviously that isn't it this time!)

    • Halibut liver oil capsules, evening primrose oil capsules and definitely bananas all help the leg cramp thing. Stretching is a really important thing to be doing now; you're about to drop a lot of fluid post-partum and some flexibility is going to go with it. Get a stretching routine going before the baby comes, as you'll want to have one in place to keep your circulation flowing well.

    • my OB told meto have a glass or two of tonic water and cranberry - the tonic water has quinine in it that helps with leg cramps - works wonders
