  • Okay, going to ask one more time: Those of you who worked out regularly before pregnancy at what point during your pregnancy and how much did you start to slow it down? Did you workout during 1st trimester?

      • What kind of stuff? I read that you're not supposed to bounce, but that it's okay to do step. I didn't step much in first pregnancy, but don't want to give it up this time around if I don't have to.

        • Mostly running slowed the pace down after 1st trimester but the bounce didn't seem to bother either of my db's--both were a week late

          • Thank you so much! That makes me feel better. One more stupid question. Did you use a Heart rate monitor? I had gotten into the habit of using one just for fun, so will keep using it to make sure I don't overdo it.

            • No I never did but I took it easy and didn't push myself and stoppped and walked when I felt like it. FWIW, both time my body was back to normal within 5 weeks even though I gained 30+ with each pregnancy, good genes + exercise

    • I worked out until I was 7 months. I found I couldn't stay on the treadmill without peeing every 2 minutes! haha! But keep your heart rate low - not over 146.

      • 146? During first pregnancy they said 140. That's good that it's increased a little.

        • Maybe you're right, I may be mistaken, but I found that it was hard to keep it low in the beginning.

          • ITA. That's why I asked. I worked out today and went up to 155 which is low for me (usually get up into 160/170's. That's why I was curious what other women who were already in the habit of exercise were doing.

    • OP: Thanks for answering! I didn't workout during 1st trimester with #1, but did throughout rest of pregnancy and had a bitch of a time losing the baby weight. I love exercising and it keeps me sane, but obviously I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt db.

    • I worked out until the day I delivered both times. I obviously slowed down alot. but for #2 I kept jogging on treadmill (slower and slower) until last 32 weeks or so. then started walking/biking. I did not run outside as I felt that access to a bathroom, plus the ability to regulate my speed electronically was important/useful.

    • I exercised one hour per day before pregnancy. First trimester I did not hardly move due to nausea. I was planning to return to regular exercise, but I also read a published study which showed higher miscarriage rates for regular exercisers, so decided to just keep myself "busy" around the house, running errands, etc, rather than any sustained exercises. I'm almost 3rd trimester and so far lucky to have normal weight gain, no problems.
