  • anyone use a sling with newborn? I bought 2 different kinds and feel like baby is uncomfortable in both (I have a 4wk old)

    • yes, a peanut shell. It was fine- db didn't mind it, and I used it until 6 mos.

    • My MIL got me this really lovely sling called "Mama kangaroo" -- she was so excited about it and I know it cost a lot for her (IL's don't have much $$$). DS never liked it and I found it pretty uncomfortable. Oh, the guilt! I think she felt bad that I hardly used it.

    • I used one of those "old fahioned" big cloth ones iwth the platstic ring at the shoulder and db was fine.

      • it helps a great deal if someone who knows how to use and adjust helps show you how to do it. Usually moms with slings are happy to help

    • Nativecarrier.com is cotton and has no rings; we all loved it. I got the GRACO one, w/swaddle insert(looks like one of those diaper-shaped, cushioned 'belts' on baby swings/bouncers) as a shower gift and there have been raves about it from the mom.
