    • ah, c'mon, you are probably great!!! we moms (and women in general) need to pat ourselves on the back more often. look at everything you do and juggle! you have THE most important job in the world - that of a parent

        • None of that stuff makes you an inept mom. I'm sure you're great. And the milestone stuff is very, very general, and nothing to do with your parenting anyway, My house looks like a cyclone hit it, but what makes me an inept mom is my lack of patience.

        • who cares about mess, laundry, and childproofing. The worry about your dd you should address soon and find out that she is probably fine. Are you depressed (How's your sleeping eating?)

        • np: how old is DD? The milestone stuff varies so much. My oldest was late w/ everything--partly a function of being a preemie but in large part due to his temperment and personality. But he eventually walked, spoke, etc.

            • Hang in there. I'm not trying to patronize you at all, but try to relax a little. I know with my first I was not as relaxed, more concerned about everything, pretty hard on myself. I'm more relaxed w/ #2 and it helps all around. On the milestones--it's great that her receptive skills are strong--that's so important. The motor stuff can develop later. And you know, if you need to get her help down the road it's available. It's not the end of the world. My oldest ended up needing speech therapy from age 2-5. Hang in there.

                • Try not to compare. So hard I know, but it doesn't help. My oldest didn't walk until very late. Was very, very quiet. Very clunky in his movement. Not an adventuresome sort at all. He's 6 now and great--handsome, bright, active. My second is on the opposite end of things--very, very quick with everything, extraordinarily verbal and showing crazy cognitive skills. It's just different. They are both precious. If I had compared him to a kid like her when he was little I would have been bummed. Just love what's great about your DD, talk to her, etc. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF (it doesn't help her if you don't) and keep up the good work.

              • this is good advice. I think you are more worried about yourself than her, maybe appropriately
