why do i feel like i don't know what i am doing ? i am tired. my house is a big mess. i have to do laundry, childproof, purge all my junk ...i am so tired. my db hasn't met appropiate milestones for her age..
[ Reply | Options ]who cares about mess, laundry, and childproofing. The worry about your dd you should address soon and find out that she is probably fine. Are you depressed (How's your sleeping eating?)
[ Reply | Options ]np: how old is DD? The milestone stuff varies so much. My oldest was late w/ everything--partly a function of being a preemie but in large part due to his temperment and personality. But he eventually walked, spoke, etc.

Hang in there. I'm not trying to patronize you at all, but try to relax a little. I know with my first I was not as relaxed, more concerned about everything, pretty hard on myself. I'm more relaxed w/ #2 and it helps all around. On the milestones--it's great that her receptive skills are strong--that's so important. The motor stuff can develop later. And you know, if you need to get her help down the road it's available. It's not the end of the world. My oldest ended up needing speech therapy from age 2-5. Hang in there.
[ Reply | Options ]thanks . i need to go to bed. this is db#1. i see kids her age and i start doing the comparison. db is definitely behind.
[ Reply | Options ]Try not to compare. So hard I know, but it doesn't help. My oldest didn't walk until very late. Was very, very quiet. Very clunky in his movement. Not an adventuresome sort at all. He's 6 now and great--handsome, bright, active. My second is on the opposite end of things--very, very quick with everything, extraordinarily verbal and showing crazy cognitive skills. It's just different. They are both precious. If I had compared him to a kid like her when he was little I would have been bummed. Just love what's great about your DD, talk to her, etc. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF (it doesn't help her if you don't) and keep up the good work.

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
