  • I had my first dc at NYU Tisch Hospital. I thought the nurses and doctors were very good, the facilities left something to be desired. Now thinking about number two and just wondering should I stick with a known quantity or is there much better to be had out there? I already know I want a hospital birth with epi (no judgment, just my personal choice) I would love to hear advice from anyone who loved where they gave birth, or who can compare NYU to other places (hospitals only please). Thanks!

    • I know of no one in NYC who has been satisfied in all areas of their L&D and post-partum experience. I would, therefore, stick with the familiar just to lessen stress.

          • I had a terrible time there. The toilet was not working so they gave me a bedpan and left me on it for 2 hours. I kept calling, but they would not come. Could not move due to C-section. Eventually I fell off and they still would not come. (blamed it on shift change)

    • I think it's more important to have great Drs and nurses than pretty facilities. I just prefer NYU for everything but my OB isn't affiliated with them. I gave birth at Roosevelt and had a great experience. I'm due in Oct. and will go back to Roosevelt

    • How do you have a choice? Don't you need to deliver where your OB is associated?

    • If you know you want the epi, I would go to Cornell. They have the best facilities, imo--much nicer than NYU or Sinai. If you DON'T want the epi, steer clear--they will put a million tubes in every part of you the second they get you into a room.

    • NYU is known to have awful facilities. I had a great experience at Cornell (NY Hosp/Weill Medical--whatever you want to call it). Great rooms, great nursing, great doctors. Can't say enough great things about it.
