  • any mds on or anyone with medical billing experience? dh had a biopsy done. he only had one spot - as far as he knew. got the bill and we were charged for two separate biopsies. called about it and was told the op report said the dr. made two incisions. so, he got to charge $634 for each one. ludicrous, imo. we have insurance but are still responsible for $223/incision - in addition to everything else. sigh.

    • When you called, did you talk to the doctor? doctor's office? The key is how it has been coded- the insurance pays their portion based on that. It's possible that it's been coded incorrectly. And if it hasn't, you can express your dismay to the doctor I suppose, so that he's more clear in future when talking to patients about what's involved.

      • i talked to the billing person at the hospital. not sure if talking to the dr. would make a difference. but dh has another procedure w/same dr. tomorrow so i guess i need all this cleared up today.
