  • Emergency C-section, dr gave dispolving stiches instead of metal staples. Anyone familiar with the pro/cons of both? My wound is still oozing after 2 weeks.

    • you had a c-section under general anesthesia? because that's the definition of emergency c-section.

      • ^^oh, and, dissolving stitches are better, but your wound should NOT be oozing after 2 weeks.

      • no, c-sections can be done on an emergent basis if an epidural/spinal has already been placed.

        • an UNPLANNED c-section, yes. An EMERGENCY c-section is one done under general.

        • people toss the phrase "emergency c-section" around like confetti, I've noticed. Anyone basically who didn't schedule their section ahead of time thinks they had an emergency one.

          • NP: STFU, what is wrong with you? Are you that insecure you need to show everyone you know what an Emergency C-section is? And argue it, that has nothing to do with the post, if you're such a know it all, then answer the poster's question and stop being such pompous ass.

            • I did answer her question. And it matters--every woman who calls her c-section an "emergency" makes birth seem that much more traumatic and terrifying to every pg woman who reads it. Why the hell not just be accurate??

    • If it's still oozing after 2 weeks there's a problem. It has nothing to do with whether you had stitches or staples. Call your doctor!
