  • Have you ever gone on vacation with your kids without your husband? If so what was the reason he couln't go? Assuming you are married and not separated or divorced.

    • Yes, I take the kids to visit my parents and we have gone on a trip with a friend and her kids when dh had to work

    • Yes all the time. DS and I go on trips with my Dad and my nephew who is also an only. Dad loves to travel and take the kids but someone needs to help him. Usually it's me. Now and again DH goes but we try to go away as a family once a year so he can’t always go on these trips too.

    • I took my older dc on vacation and left DH and younger dc home. DH does not like to travel on vacation as he travels for work all the time, and DC #2 is too young to enjoy travel. DD and I had an absolute blast.

    • No -- but DH went away with DC without me. We had had a family vacation planned, but my parents were recovering from a serious car accident and I didn't want to leave them. DH went with DC and they had a great time (although DH was exhausted for weeks afterwards!).

    • Yes. DH had to work through a school break so I took dc's. We had a fabulous time and my kids say it was their favorite trip. (I think that was because they liked where we stayed though...)

    • Dh has taken Db's to see IL's without me when I cannot go- they had a blast. I loved being the single childless person for 1 week

    • a few times, always work related. I never saw the sense in kids and I missing out on something because dh had to work. we've done trips alone (me and kids) and w/my brother and his family. it's not a vacation for me in any way, but they are usually fun.
