  • here's a friends situation. what would your fam do? they were going to go to another city for a wkend wedding, and then the dh had a conference in the same town the next week. 1yo db became very ill and ped said could not travel. dh decided to do the entire trip anyway (gone for a full week) instead of changing flights and only going for the required 3-day conference. dw is wohm and will have a sick kid by herself for a week. i feel so bad for her. we will help out, but don't want to expose our dd either.

      • op: i'm actually asking so i won't judge. we wouldn't handle the same way, but maybe we're the weird ones. trying to figure out if this is the norm.

    • unless it was dh's close family or he was in wedding party, i'd be ticked.

    • I would tell him to go. Babies will get sick all the time, but people (hopefully) only get married once. I am a WOHM and am perfectly capable of taking care of my dcs on my own for a few weeks. I would, however, tell dh he owes me one and barter it for some time to myself later.
