    • I still havent gotten over the fact that we couldnt find a single K spot for my terrific kid despite applying broadly and not needing financial aid. The supply demand inequities are maddening..

    • What do you mean by pass? Your child got lower than 90? In what way are these children "seemingly mediocre?"

    • eh, no. Those kids made the cut-off, mine didn't. No kid is mediocre.

    • Yes, but having gone through the system, I also realize the G&T really isn't any better than a good zoned school. Just better bragging rights.

      • ITTTA!!!! it's all about the person administering the test. that helps determine score.

        • yup. It's got nothing to do with your child at all, right? Any good teacher would just answer all the questions instead of the child and every child would have gotten a 99.

    • It's pretty arrogant for you to label children as seemingly mediocre when you don't have any professional basis to determine a child's academic potential. I usually have found, professionally (I'm a teacher) that some of the most gifted students don't show it to adults outside school - almost as though they know they are different and are uncomfortable that it might make them unacceptable.

    • If you have a very bright kid, at that age it's a bit of a crapshoot whether or not your dc will happen to test well on that particular day (assuming that you have not been tutoring dc on test-taking skills). Not doing well on the test does not necessarily mean your dc is less bright that most of the kids there- just means dc was not particularly lucky that day.
