another beautiful day... make lunches, argue about tooth brushing, see DH off to work, put lots of socks and assorted other laundry in the wash, step on a few Legos, and read the news where people do exciting things and change the world. i know being a mom is important and my "work" is valuable and very difficult, but is what you thought your life would be ??!!

Get up, make breakfast, shower, get #1 dressed, take him to school, go to work, work shitty job, pick #1 and #2 up from babysitter on some days (other days they are already home), go home, make dinner/have dinner, read with them if they are not in bed (depends on night), do house work, talk to wife/watch tv, go to bed.

i understand your point but it doesn't help you to think about it like that. it is all a state of mind. and it can be a very temporary time when your kids are young. enjoy every second of the mundane because it will be over in a flash. oh and by the way, most people are not changing the world. you very well may be by raising your kids!
[ Reply | Options ]Thank you... One DS is a guy who has a rough time making friends, accepting hard issues that kids his age shouldn't even ponder (he is wacky smart) and I feel that mothering him and guiding him is a real job and one I love and does really matter... then I look at -oh - Christian Amanpour and think, "shit, I wanted to do that"...

i'm a little bit the opposite. i always knew i wanted to stay home but i didn't think i'd be good at it and i was surprisingly good about it. (now i'm back at work and missing sahm-hood). but it was a huge adjustment...i had to re-evaluate my idea of success.
