  • Do you think children that go to private daycare/preschool did better on the OLSAT? I think many of the children that did not do well did not have the privilege of going to private daycare/preschool where these schools no doubt had tests (like OLSAT/ERB) in mind as they went about their daily activities with the children. I don't think it's fair. The playing field was already uneven before these children took the tests.

    • ITA, although I don't think anyone at our preschool had the standardized tests explicitly in mind when designing the curriculum. After all, this is preschool we're talking about. It's not like taking the SATs.

    • I think the biggest thing that preschool did to help dd is to give her lots of opportunities to sit down and focus on work. It's an academic preschool, so she had work time each day, and I think that really helped her focus and ability to listen to tester.

    • I think preschool has an advantage over no preschool. Public v. private though doesn't make a difference.
