  • 3 yo DS is afraid to poop on the potty. Is almost totally trained for pee. Any tips or advice?

    • My ds was EXACTLY like that. Only one thing to do. Stay home for a few days (in this heat, not so hard) and just get him out of the diapers and into the underwear. One piece of advice: buy underwear he really really wants. He won't want to poop in them and will be sad if he does. Worked for my ds.

        • Are you doing the bribe thing? Again something my ds responded to well. That's tough. Because you don't want him to hold it in there. Not healthy.

          • yes, bribing with lollipops and chocolate chips. Also, intermitent thomas accessories, which he loves

            • We did the Thomas thing too. A few thoughts on that front. The first time he poops in the potty, tell him he can go to the store and pick out ANYTHING Thomas. That will give him incentive for the first time. Then tell him that for every 5, 10 or whatever poops he makes, he can get a train. So he has a reason to start and a reason to keep going. Once he's fine, you can taper off the bribes.
