    • For a day or a few days? Day trips include Dia Beacon and the sculpture garden outside of NYC (yikes, what is it called), MIL may enjoy mansion tours like Westbury Gardens or Kykuit (although probably not with DB, they were very serious on my Kykuit tour). My in-laws LOVED the Adirondacks which are great for dbs. Otherwise Newport or the Hamptons. I have never been to the North Fork of LI but that could be nice as well. We rent houses for space so I don't have any resorts in mind.

      • North Fork resident for many years and I don't think there's enough to do with a db along. There are not many restaurants & hotels. It is a nice place to rent a cottage at the bay for a while, go boating, taste a few wines or relax with a good book but there's very few downtowns, sidewalks and places to go with a baby in tow. There's more opportunity to windowshop, find an outdoor cafe where you can pull the stroller up and people watch on the South Fork side.
