Non-NYCer here. With all the testing NYCers have to do for schools, do people just blurt out that their child is G&T or whatever or are people more subtle about it. I've had three people recently tell me that their kids are "gifted" before they've even entered K and where I live it is not at all the norm to be tested before 2nd or 3rd grade unless the parent is extremely pushy. And in my circle of friends we simply don't talk about it. We talk about our kids and school but not one of my good friends had mentioned exceptionality - it's always these random people at playgrounds.
