  • I am from Ct - this private vs public stuff in NYC makes no sense to me

      • My dh worked with a man who lived in LI one of those five towns. 4.0 daughter with great SAT, etc. The best school she got into was Syracuse. Feel lucky now?

        • ^ and the sad part is not that Syracuse is so horrible. It is that she worked her butt off and felt really let down. She wanted more.

        • Do colleges really look at public versus private? My DC is in private and I wonder if we are just wasting our money. She tracks to a high school that scores about 150points higher on the SAT than the public school. The colleges don't care, do they?

          • Colleges want kids from a range of schools, public and private. Probably the best thing to do is move to rural Montana for high school, be a super star, and then apply to great schools. You'd have a better chance than coming from a major urban hub like NYC

    • Because private schools are only for kids who get kicked out of public in CT.
