we live in a townhouse. 5 yr old daughters room is on top floor. our just beneath. the only spare room is on the floor with my daughter's. a male friend of dh's is staying over. it is one of his very dearest friends since childhood and he has 2 kids of his own. am i nuts to feel a little uncomfortable about his proximity to my daughter? i hope i am.

No. I always am aware when we have male guests near my son's room. You're right. If you feel that uncomfortable then have her sleep in your room or re arrange the sleeping arrangements.
