To NEST parents: What feedback have you received from your K about school. Are they excited about going to school? Do they come home with what they did in school? Do they talk about thier little friends? What does the homework consist of in K? Workbook type stuff?
9 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]My K likes school. Has several friends. He loves some of his specials -- others not as much. This is partly about the teacher (he loves the art teacher and the chess teacher) and partly about him. He brings some stuff home. Not as much as pre-K but that is to be expected. Homework is worksheets (especially math), spelling/sight words, and a reading log. Then there is the odd project. (This week it involved bringing in pictures of family/self/house/etc.) The NEST homework horror stories are overblown in my experience.
[ Reply | Options ]I ditto the K parent who responded previously. My K loves school and has several friends. She loooooooves the music, art and Chess teacher. She dosen't like the spanish teacher. Next year they are offering language choices of spanish or mandarin so we are switching languages because of the teacher. Other than that, she gets homework once a week and has several days to do it and the occasional project like taking pictures of the family/self/home. The older kids there I know say they have lots of homework but it doesn't sound that bad.
