  • 42 yo and newly dating great guy after divorce a year ago. Delicate question: Will he expect me to be waxed? This wasn't popular when I married in my 20s. Is this part of the hygiene these days with women?

    • I don't think he'll expect a full brazilian or anything. Just neat and trimmed.

      • np ITA. I'm over 40 and no one ever thought about this when we were young! I think it's mostly the 30 and under crowd. Assuming he is older, I doubt he will expect that

        • if you're expecting he'll see it, take care of it. He's no doubt dating women in their 30s too. I'm 33, my dh 42 and he expects it to be taken care of.

          • OR: What does taken care of mean? OP can correct me, but I'm not assuming she's full national geographic bush.

        • fyi: i am 40, most of my friends are, too. we all "clean it up" and have for many years. i have been doing it for 15 years. i would definitely clean up.

          • but clean up does not mean a brazillian does it? That is gross to me - but I'm old. A little trimming is one thing. Bare as a 12yo is another

            • np: I totally agree. Going all bare skeeves me out bigtime--all I can think of is prepubescent girls and I find that abhorrent, not sexy.

    • I'm 35 and have never waxed; I only shave a few strays when I'm going to be in a swimsuit. I think all this concern is definitely on the part of younger women. If you're concerned about this partner (congratulations! good for you!), maybe a little trim. But if he's also in his 40s I don't see him getting too worried about it. He's just lucky to have you there. . .

    • I'm a 40 something dh. If I were dating again I would not expect a woman to be groomed like a porn star -- unless she was a porn star. (This is not to say that if she was bare/near bare I would assume she was a porn star either. Just being clear...)

    • Somewhere between a full brazilian and no grooming at all there is a happy medium. i like something more than a strip and smaller than a triangle and i keep it trimmed short. i don't do full wax "underneath" but keep that trimmed even shorter. i am 38.
