    • Totally. my husbadn and i were just commenting..since we are search for reasons to stay in the city, our duaghters are expsed to the most diverse/strange characters here which they would never find in the burbs. we were thinking its more of a good thing..slthough can also be bad too.

    • no. It's really kind of segregated by neighborhood. There are very few black people in the heavily white neighborhoods. I guess in the lower income neighborhoods it's getting more "diverse" because the white people are seing bargains and moving into traditionally black or latin neighborhoods. it won't be that way for long though, they're be heavily white just like most of the other neighborhoods. That said, if you look at manhattan as a whole, as a single unit, it is incredibly diverse.

      • that's a buffer neighborhood. I certainly don't mean anything bad by that at all, I have always lived in buffer neighborhoods, except now that I live in Wash Heights.
