  • I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm debating about breast-feeding. Someone told me that the areola/nipple gets permanently enlarged. Any experience with this?

    • That's pretty funny. Mine went back to the way they were after I weaned.

    • I bf for a year and my nipples are always erect. I have to wear padded bras all the time. I am not crazy about this but my dh thinks it is a wonderful thing

    • That didn't happen to me. But everyone I know says their breasts changed shape after bf-ing. Mostly smaller and less perky. It's really that noticable or a big deal, though--other changes in your body after pregnancy are far worse. Sorry to break it to you.

      • np: i think it's the pregnancy that causes these changes, not the bf. fwiw, i ebf'd and my boobs are no droopier than before (they were already pretty droopy, though) and are bigger. other changes, not so pleasant, were from pregnancy itself (e.g. looser belly, etc).

    • No, this does not happen. The areola gets a LOT larger during pregnancy, but it gradually returns to normal. Some people put baby's health above aesthetics. Just saying.
