  • My RE said that blood work is more reliable than ultrasounds when monitoring ovulation during a natural cycle. How is that possible?

    • I have heard that too. When I did a natural frozen cycle, I had to collect urine and they would monitor for surge that way.

      • instead of ultrasound? wouldn't it be useful to see the folicle, its size and when it has "left the building"?

    • Blood tests show subtle changes in estrogen and progeterone and other hormomes that indicate impending ovulation. US only shows lining is good or bad, but it can be good and ovulation has already occurred.

      • yes, but an u/s of an ovary that used to contain a large follicle and now doesn't indicates that ovulation has occurred...no?
