  • If your dc is on the spectrum for autism at what age did symptoms become apparent and what symptoms? Thanks

    • You can check on www.firstsigns.org for signs. If you have concerns you should get an appointment with a Developmental Ped as soon as you can.

    • At 9 mos stopped babbling. Between 9-12 mos personality changed, poor eye contact, would stare unresponsively, would not respond to name. Other symptoms, no joint engagement, no mimicking/funny faces/peek-a-boo. Rigid behaviors. No interest in toys beyond cause and effect.

    • We saw signs starting at 9 months too. Between 9-12 months we became increasingly concerned as db didn't start pointing, waving, or saying any words, and also didn't answer to name or follow directions.

      • We saw the same signs but our DS isn't on the spectrum. No firm DX yet but looks like ADD-inattentive (which sometimes shares traits with spectrum)
